January 2024
An Impactful Partnership
It goes without saying that the Call of Duty Endowment has significantly altered the course of this humble non-profit's history. Still Serving Veterans is thrilled to announce that it has once again been selected as a Primary Grantee of crucial grant funding for 2024. This honor is granted to just 10 non-profits in the US. This ongoing partnership ensures that SSV can continue its Veteran Career & Transition Program at no-cost to Veterans, their family members or employers, while positively impacting the future of Veterans throughout the Southeast.

Mission Moment: Bringing Christmas to Veterans & their Families
Through SSV's Veteran Resource Program, our team connects families in need during the holidays with companies that want to prioritize the wellbeing of Veterans across North Alabama. Many companies sponsor families anonymously. Recipients come to SSV's Huntsville office to pick up gifts straight from their children's wishlist.
"This is an absolute blessing to our family! Thank you all so much!"
said Alyssah S.
"Supporting Veteran families during Christmas is not just a gift; it's a heartfelt salute to their sacrifice and a reminder that they are never alone in their journey,"
said Carrie Sezlak, SSV Veteran Resource Coordinator.
"Thank you for making such a difference and providing peace, love and making my children smile. When they smile, I do! I am grateful,"
said Tiffani W.
Salute Our Heroes Letter Drive
There's something to be said about "filling" your cup as we all head into a new year. While SSV can look back at our successes as a way to stay motivated, perhaps there's one better. Students from across North Alabama penned personal letters to our military heroes for SSV to share.
Our partners at Redstone Federal Credit Union lead the much-anticipated campaign and are a valued partner in our efforts to support Veterans. SSV shares these with clients and other Veterans in the community!
"You are so fearless and so brave and so inspiring and so amazing and so kind and so sweet"
"Thank you for fighting for us, serving for us and helping us," said one child. Another said "You are the reason America is what it is."
"Thank you for your sacrifice. You have made such a big difference in the world. Thank you for all that you have done to make the world better," said a letter penned to "My Hero."
VET+ Grant Recipient
SSV is thrilled to announce it has received a generous grant from Mazda's Employee Business Resource Group (EBRG) VET+ program. The mission of VET+ is to bring awareness, advocacy and support for military Veterans, active military and their families. SSV is one of 25 organizations selected by Mazda EBRGs this fall.
A Whole Month Dedicated to Coaching & Mentorship
It's fitting that as we kick off a new year, there's a collective push to help each other start this year on the right foot. January hosts National Career Coaching Day, National Mentoring Day and International Day of Education.
SSV was thrilled to be a featured expert for RecruitMilitary's 24 Days of Mentorship campaign.
It's easy to see why SSV and our counselors are becoming the go-to experts for all things Veteran employment!
