Chyna W.
Like so many this year, Still Serving Veterans’ organization and our Veteran clients have faced unimaginable challenges… but we have been absolutely amazed at the outpouring of support from the corporations and members of this community. Together we are changing the lives of Veteran families who just need a helping hand and a little hope during what has been a very challenging year.
Chyna, one of our clients, has had a string of bad luck this past year as she transitioned out of the Army and into an unstable civilian life that left her without the means to provide Christmas for her children. She is a proud soldier and single mother who needed help. Our Veterans Resource Counselor worked to find a solution by connecting Chyna’s need to a gift in the form of a company sponsorship.
The team at Gray Analytics, Inc. of Huntsville, AL had come to Still Serving Veterans with an open request to help a Veteran. Their employees wanted to sponsor one Veteran family who was in need of assistance this Christmas. Our Veteran Resource Counselor made the connection and brought Christmas to Chyna’s two boys. …and boy did they bring it!
The Gray Analytics Team delivered a sleigh full of fabulous gifts and much needed child care supplies to Still Serving Veterans’ client. When Chyna and her family came to receive the gift, the boys dove right in with squeals of delight, her youngest son LOVED the rocking horse, but Mom was so overwhelmed she cried. She said, “This is one of the biggest blessings I have ever received. With Covid and struggling to find a job, you guys blessed me in more ways than just this.” She also said that she hopes to be able to “pay it forward” someday and do the same for another family in need.
Everyone falls on hard times, but it is our job to help them get back up, with pride and purpose. At Still Serving Veterans we serve the most urgent need first and build a future together. Chyna was a welder in the Army and is working closely with one of our Career Counselors to find meaningful employment and navigate the job search. Her goal is to build a stable future for her family.
Together we can assure that Veterans and their families receive all the support they need.
They have sacrificed for our country and we understand that although saying “thank you for your service” is always appreciated, we want to do more.
