Military Appreciation Month is Every Month at Still Serving Veterans
What Does Military Appreciation Month Mean to You?
"Military appreciation is our way of recognizing the sacrifice our military has and is making and thanking all present and past military men and women for their willingness to protect us and those that we love." - Bill Koch, SSV COO
"To me, Military Appreciation means showing Veterans the love they deserve for making our world safer for all. Veterans risked their lives and missed precious time with their families to keep my family safe, and I appreciate all they have done!" - Debbie Joyner, SSV Chief Development Officer
"I appreciate the daily sacrifice of life's little things that are lost when someone chooses to serve. Little things like acknowledging pain, seeing/participating in loved ones' important events, going on vacations other than to see family, eating/living what and where they want... Service Members are the watchdogs; without their sacrifices, we would not be the nation we are. “
“Thanking a Service Member should be a daily thought, not an afterthought." Jaymie Testman, SSV Veteran Service Officer
A Campaign that Never Ends
Military Appreciation Month may mean different things to different people. At Still Serving Veterans, the appreciation of service members is the very foundation of which our humble non-profit exists.
Our team very well could be enjoying the benefits of other careers & employers, however, they come to SSV everyday with Veterans top of mind. We are charged with serving as many transitioning service members & Veterans as we can, while also maintaining the quality of care our service members richly deserve.
If you or someone you know is interested in investing in the success of Veterans everywhere, please consider becoming a monthly donor. Your contribution allows SSV to reach more Vets to ensure they have the tools they need to raise healthy families.

Transition Stories
Charles, US Army
Reflecting on his journey, Charles candidly shared, "The biggest challenge was looking for a job that aligned with what I was doing in the military... I thought that since I have been a manager/supervisor for over 15 years, that I could walk right into that position." It's a sentiment echoed by countless transitioning Veterans navigating the intricate landscape of civilian employment.
SSV Welcomes New Board Members
Brenda Armstrong, Randy "Glint" Cartner, Dr. Michele Kane, Jeff Kramer and TJ Wright have been selected for board positions after an extensive vetting process led by current and outgoing members of the board. Board member Kristen Strickland and Board Chair John T. Wright will depart the board after successfully completing 6-year terms.
Must-Read Blog of the Month
Continuing education does not mean you have to go back to school full-time. There are plenty of programs that provide e-learning certifications to service members, giving them diverse skillsets as they transition to the civilian workforce.

Urns for Vets
SSV Resource Coordinator Carrie Slezak recently partnered with Stan Reese from Free Urns for Vets. This partnership is another way SSV can ensure Veterans have access to the resources they deserve. This great organization could use support right now to help families all over the US during very tragic and hard times.
