Help us Honor Veterans by spreading the word
'National Hire a Veteran Day' is July 25th
Every year about 200,000 Veterans make the transition from soldier to civilian. In 2017 ‘Hire A Veteran Day’, a national initiative was, created to remind organizations that a Veterans’ experience and dedication can breathe new life into their workforce.
Consider these facts; Veterans know how to work as a team, they are disciplined, and comfortable in diverse workplaces. They were taught strong leadership skills in the military, but they're applicable everywhere. Veterans have specialized training and they are always committed to their goals. Still Serving Veterans (SSV) knows these facts and we make it our mission to connect Veterans with Employers every day.
If you are a business searching for great employees, SSV can help connect you with Veterans looking for their next career.
Following are some of the reasons our Veteran Career & Transition team supports hiring Veterans:
“The routine and good habit-forming nature of the military makes service members ideal employees. This, compounded with their competitive nature, focused on getting the mission accomplished at all costs, sets them above their civilian counterparts.” - Steve Hartley, US Army
"Veterans endure intense military training that sharpens their skills in a variety of areas. From mastering modern technology to specialized fields like engineering and communications, Veterans are a force to be reckoned with!" – Mo Jackson, US Navy
MISSION MOMENT: How Your Support is Helping Veterans
Veteran Job Fair Connection Leads to Success
When Anna left the military the biggest challenge she faced in her civilian job hunt was networking. With help from SSV Career Counselors she met at a Your Next Mission Veteran hiring event, she was able to improve her resume, LinkedIn profile, and she even received recommendations of companies she should talk to. Anna said, “Thanks to SSV for showing me what I need to highlight in my background and how to showcase my resume and LinkedIn profile to my advantage.” She has now successfully transitioned into a new role as a Senior Product Manager.

MTM Grant Fund Recipient
Mazda Toyota Manufacturing (MTM) recently presented 12 nonprofit grantees awards totaling $150,000 through the MTM Grant Fund, giving back in a big way to the organizations that support our North Alabama community. SSV is honored to be one of the grant recipients.
Gift from Intrepid
Intrepid's generous support over the past several years has helped to ensure that our VA Benefit Program is fully funded. SSV's VA counselors help local/Northern Alabama Veterans and their families understand the VA benefits they have earned and complete the complicated VA claim forms needed to access them. All at no-cost thanks to our supporters.
In the Community
COL (R) Will Webb III, co-founder and ten-year CEO of Still Serving Veterans (2006 – 2016) stopped by the Huntsville office to catch up with old friends, meet the new team, and share in the excitement of all the wonderful things our little Veteran-focused nonprofit has grown up to be.
In recognition of the US Army's birthday on June 14th, Still Serving Veterans was recognized on the field during pre-game festivities at Huntsville City FC! SSV employee, Moses Nervis, was the "Hero of the Game", and PeggyLee and TJ Wright, who both served in the Army were recognized for their military service.
