August 2025 Newsletter

A New Look

You may have already noticed a new look to Still Serving Veterans. Our brand is getting a modern upgrade as we prepare to celebrate our 20th year in 2026! The “Shield” is our alternate logo and complements SSV’s commitment to helping our service members achieve a secure military to civilian transition.

Soon we will also have a new website that should make the SSV experience smoother for our clients, donors and partners. If you are a partner, feel free to reach out to social@ssv.org for the new logos!

SSV Expands Presence In Georgia

SSV is proud to announce a major expansion in Georgia through a new partnership with Columbus Technical College. At the August 13 groundbreaking of the Col. Ralph Puckett Jr. VECTR Workforce Development Center, Columbus Tech committed to embedding an SSV career counselor onsite—bringing personalized support directly to transitioning service members and Veterans.

SSV leaders also engaged with the Warner Robins VECTR Center to explore a similar partnership, potentially adding a second embedded counselor in the region. Together, these developments position SSV to serve more Veterans across Georgia with no-cost career services that change lives.

Q2 SSV Impact

  • Between April and June, SSV served 532 new Veterans, helping them navigate the complex journey from military service to civilian careers.
  • 94% stepped into full-time roles
  • The average starting salary reached $72,609, or $34.91 per hour

Sue Nehilla to Lead SSV Veteran Claims & Benefits

Still Serving Veterans is proud to announce Sue Nehilla’s promotion to lead the Veteran Claims & Benefits team. This comes as SSV experiences record growth and aspires to serve more Veterans outside of North Alabama.

“Sue brings a wealth of leadership and experience to the SSV team.  Having been an accredited VSO for 2-years, and as a retired Nurse Corps Commander in the US Navy, she’s seen both sides of the coin as an active duty leader and now as a Veteran,” said Rich Landolt, SSV CEO/President.

“I am beyond excited that Sue Nehilla is now the Director of Veteran Claims and Benefits. Sue’s 30+ years of experience as a nurse is a valuable asset that our Veteran Claims and Benefits Counselors, as well as our clients, will very much appreciate,” said Jim King, SSV Chief Programs Officer.
