Tell us a little about yourself and your background?
I was born and raised in a small, close-knit rural community in Maryland -one of eight siblings, with great parents. What is your military background? And did you attend any additional college or education courses? After graduation from high school, I joined the military (Army), I did over 21 years, I built a career rooted in Logistics and supply chain management. Support operation across the globe including combat deployment to Desert Storm, Iraq, Somalia and Afghanistan as Contractor. Obtain my bachelor’s degree Business Administration.
What inspired you to join Still Serving Veterans?
The heart to help especially our Veterans.
What does a typical day look like for you at SSV?
1. Managing consistent communication through emails and phone calls to maintain strong client relationships.
2. Responding to client emails promptly and professionally.
3. Assisting clients in career development tasks, such as resume revisions and tailoring job application materials for better employment opportunities for the client.
What do you find most rewarding about your work here?
The most rewarding aspect of my role at Still Serving Veteran is the opportunity to make a real, lasting impact on the lives of the veterans we serve. Helping veterans/spouse secure meaningful employment.
In your experience, what’s the biggest challenge veterans face when transitioning to civilian life?
Understanding the job search process: Resume writing, LinkedIn, Job Boards, and interviews pre and the tools for job search- these are not part of military training. Many veterans find this process confusing.
What advice would you give a veteran who’s hesitant to seek support?
You don’t have to figure everything out alone, there are resources and tools to assist you in the process of transition from the military to civilian life.
What are your hobbies or interests outside of work?
Love reading a good book when I just have some me time. I also picked up the bass guitar about 3 months ago, I enjoy the challenge of learning how to play.
Finally, what does “Still Serving Veterans” mean to you?
It means service, I get to serve the veteran community each and every day. Whether working in civilian jobs, volunteering or simply being a part of a great organization like SSV.
