Still Serving Veterans

Honoring two decades of service, a new home in Huntsville, and the community that made it possible.

20 YEARS OF SERVICE

Two Decades of Service. A New Chapter Begins.

On June 23, 2026, Still Serving Veterans marked its 20th anniversary with the official opening of its new headquarters on Wynn Drive in Huntsville. Veterans, staff, community leaders, partners, donors, and friends gathered for a ribbon cutting and a celebration of this important milestone.

The event honored two decades of helping Veterans and their families navigate life after military service—and the community whose support has made that work possible.

As SSV begins its next chapter, the new facility reflects its continued commitment to meeting the growing needs of the Veterans it serves.

"Local Nonprofit Still Serving Veterans Celebrates 20 Years, Opens New Headquarters in Huntsville"

The Huntsville Business Journal covered SSV’s 20th anniversary celebration, the opening of its new headquarters, and the organization’s continued impact on Veterans and the wider community.

INAUGURAL SSV FOUNDER’S AWARD

Honoring Scotty Smiley

During the celebration, SSV presented its inaugural Founder’s Award to retired U.S. Army officer Scotty Smiley. After being blinded and temporarily paralyzed by a suicide car bomb in Iraq, Smiley went on to become the first blind active-duty officer in U.S. military history and later served as an instructor at West Point.

His story of courage, resilience, faith, and hope has inspired countless others and made him a fitting first recipient of the award.
